Peace of mind is a precious gift that many of us strive for in today’s fast-paced world. I feel immense gratitude for the space and time to experience this peace while watching the leaves quietly falling in my garden. My garden is a peaceful haven of tranquility far removed from the conflict and turmoil of the wider world. The challenge is to have my mind as tranquil as my garden. It remains a choice to invite the chaos in, through the technology that connects me to the world outside, and a challenge to remain undisturbed. I choose not to ignore the noise but to also remain undisturbed in the midst of chaos. This mastery of thought is important for my peace of mind, helping me stay connected to what matters, and grounded despite the external forces that threaten to overwhelm us all.
Finding Peace of Mind: Letting Go and Embracing Tranquillity
Ignoring anything does not make it ‘go away’, it just keeps us in a state of blissful ignorance .. which may actually be important for our peace of mind. We can easily be overwhelmed by all that is happening, so much of which we are powerless to impact.
I’m lucky that very little disturbs my peace of mind, and I do not take that peace for granted. I have been gifted with a wisdom that allows me to observe and not be oblivious; to listen and not be left enraged, to doubt and not be left discouraged or disempowered.
Over many years I have distilled the words of many thought leaders and changemakers into ‘bite sized’ pieces, and have come to my own conclusions about life and what it takes to be happy and fulfilled within, despite what’s happening in the world without.
We live in a precarious world. Life can change forever in an instant.
All we truly have is our own experience, our own truth and our own choices under any given circumstance.
The only way to peace is to be peaceful in your own mind and heart. We know conflict disturbs and yet we still find ways to mischievously fan the flames from the sidelines.
If we are lucky, we are not in the thick of many of the grave and dangerous situations that are happening in the world.
However many are in conflict zones closer to home … conflict with partners, family and friends, in the home, in the workplace, in the school yard .. in the echo chambers of democracy … and yes, conflict in our own minds – between what is and what should or should not be!
Conflict is inevitable. It’s how we deal with the conflict that matters.
How we resolve it. Words make a difference.
